Almost 15% Rise in Passenger Volumes for Russian Airlines

The number of passengers that have flown via the Russian airlines for the past 11 months is 78,640,251, which is a year-on-year growth of 14.6%. The average passenger load was 80%, according to the statistics published by Rosaviatsiya (the Federal Air Transport Agency).

Aeroflot has had the most passengers – 19,272,227 (+18.5%), Transaero takes the second place – 11,721,390 passengers (+21.9%), UTair is the third – 7,612,413 (+6.5%), then come S7 Airlines – 6,540,265 (+11.8) and Rossiya Airlines – 4,282,409 passengers (+8.2%). The share of the leading five in the total passenger flow is 62.9%.

On the New Year’s Eve and at the beginning of January there was a steep rise in the passenger flow of the Moscow airports, as compared to regular days.

Domodedovo Airport expects 1.4 million passengers from December 27 through January 12, and more than 30 million during the whole year.

According to the press service of Sheremetyevo Airport, the influx of passengers began starting the 20th of December. For instance, during December 23-24 the airport had 30% passengers more than on the same day of the previous year. Sheremetyevo projects the number of passengers during the whole year to be more than 29 million.

The forecast for Vnukovo Airport is 474 thousand passengers from December 28 to January 9. The peak numbers were registered on December 28 and 29, and a second, less numerous wave of passengers came on January 2.
