More than 3,200 charter flights will be organized between Russia and Thailand during the coming winter season. At the same time, 13 Russian tour operators that provide a large scope of services for this destination will launch early booking and other exciting programs that are likely to attract more tourists, including VIP visitors. TRN reports the latest news from Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

According to the preliminary schedule, during the winter season of 2014–15 charter programs will be organized from 35 cities of Russia and the CIS, amounting to more than 3,240 flights in total. These cities include Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Almaty and Astana. As before, planes will fly to the main tourist regions of the country – islands Phuket and Krabi, the Kingdom’s capital Bangkok, and Pattaya, which abounds in beaches.

According to TAT Governor Thawatchai Arunyik, Thai travel authorities expect special winter charter programs and exciting winter promotions (that will be launched in September already) to bring in additional tourist flow to Thailand from Russia and the CIS.

The Governor says that 1,910,000 Russian tourists in total are expected to visit the Kingdom during the entire year of 2014, which is 9.75% more compared to the last year.

TAT representatives have also told TRN that during the first half of 2014 the country was visited by more than 1 million Russian tourists, which constitutes a 6.54% y-o-y growth. In 2013, Russia was third as regards the number of tourists who came to the Kingdom, increasing its results by 32.66% compared to 2012. More than 1.7 million Russians visited the country last year.

Among all markets, China remains of the topmost priority for Thailand. Other prominent market players are Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and India.
