18.3m Russians Travel Abroad in 2013

During 2013, 18.3 million Russian tourists traveled abroad, which is 20% more compared to the previous year. This was reported by Vice-President of the Russian Union of Tourism Industry Yuri Barzykin at the ‘Intourmarket 2014’ Travel Fair.

As for the inbound tourism, the results are more modest: 2.7 million foreigners visited Russia, the growth being 3.7%. Domestic tourist flow constituted 33 million people.

Yuri Barzykin singled out a few of the latest travel market trends: accelerated regional development, new programs from Russian regions, transborder and integrated tourism products, rise in demand for health and spa services, development of cruise and excursion tours, reduced length of tourist trips and combining various kinds of holidays.

Another very important trend – spread of IT-technologies and online sales.
